HelpWire Introduces Unattended Access for Linux

With an easy setup and user consent, operators can remotely connect to Linux devices at any time. As long as the device is powered on and online, access remains available even when the system is idle or the user is logged out.

Currently Supported Systems:

  • Ubuntu 18.04 – 24.04 (DEB)
  • CentOS 8/9, Fedora 41 (RPM)

Important Information About X11 and Wayland:

  • X11: Full unattended access, including the login screen.
  • Wayland: No access to the login screen (OS limitation).

Key Benefits:

  • Remote Access Anytime: Access your Linux computers remotely from the office or home whenever you need them.
  • 24/7 Support for Clients: Offer round-the-clock unattended support across multiple operating systems, including Linux.
  • Simplified Server Management: Manage and maintain remote servers without being physically present, saving both time and resources.

How to Set Up Unattended Remote Access:

  1. Log in to your HelpWire Web account, add a Client, and send them the HelpWire download link.
  2. Wait for the Client to open the app on their device.
  3. In your Web account, request unattended access for the Client's workstation.
  4. The Client will approve the access request on their side.
  5. Once access is granted, you can reconnect anytime the workstation is powered on and connected to the internet.
  6. The Client can revoke access at any time through the system tray menu or by uninstalling the service.
