HelpWire remote desktop with no session time limits

Updated on:

At Electronic Team, we build HelpWire, and one decision we made early and haven’t reconsidered is this: HelpWire has no session time limits. Free remote desktop sessions run for as long as they need to, with no cutoffs, including for commercial use.

The problem we kept running into

Before HelpWire, plenty of tools already solved “connect to a remote computer.” What they didn’t solve well was staying connected long enough to finish the work. TeamViewer, AnyDesk, RustDesk, and others all address roughly the same remote access need. However, session duration on the free tier is where they diverge, and it’s the detail that decides whether a support session gets to finish or gets cut off partway through.

We kept hearing the same pattern from technicians: a session going fine, then a warning banner, then a countdown, then a hard stop – right in the middle of a fix. That’s not a rare edge case in remote support. It’s close to the default experience on several of the tools people reach for first, and we didn’t want to build another version of that.

The decision: No session time limits by design

When we built HelpWire, we set a rule for ourselves: session length is not something the software gets to interrupt. In practice, that means:

  • No countdown toward a cutoff.
  • No “session ending soon” warning.
  • No forced disconnection at a set number of minutes.
  • The same duration behavior on the free tier as on any paid tier. We didn’t want to make “not getting cut off” a feature you have to pay for.

We kept this distinct from a different decision we made about licensing: how many sessions can run at once is tied to operator seats, not to how long any single session lasts.

Evidence. HelpWire’s pricing page states plainly that the Free plan includes “No nag screens” and “No session cutoffs.” It’s a direct description of what we built: sessions aren’t interrupted by forced prompts or time limits, on free or paid tiers alike.

HelpWire’s pricing page shows that it offers free remote desktop software with no session time limits and no forced disconnection.

Where that leaves HelpWire against the alternatives

Tool Session time limit Free for commercial use Starting price
TeamViewer Free tier personal-use only. Commercial-pattern sessions get flagged and interrupted within minutes. No Free for personal use/paid from ~$24/month
AnyDesk There’s no set session limit, but free sessions are frequently interrupted after 5-60 minutes. If the software detects commercial use, the connection may be cut off within minutes. No Free for personal use/paid from ~$28/month
RustDesk No time limit (self-hosted or public relay). Yes Free/self-hosted
HelpWire No session time limit. Yes Free

Note: Competitor pricing is approximate, pulled from public vendor pages, and changes over time.

Frequently asked questions

Does HelpWire have a session time limit?

— No. Sessions run indefinitely, with no built-in duration restrictions – this was a deliberate design decision.
Can I use HelpWire commercially on the free tier?

— Yes. We didn’t build a commercial/personal split into the free tier’s session behavior.
Will HelpWire flag or limit business use?

— No, there’s no business-use detection running in the background – we chose not to build that.
What happens after 60 minutes?

— Nothing. The session continues the same way it would at minute five.
